injured following a vehicular accident in the vicinity of Houston, Greater Georgetown.

Dead is 21-year-old Paulette Josiah of Lot 127 CC Eccles, East Bank Demerara. The name of the injured person was not immediately available. He is reportedly a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

According to reports, Josiah was the pillion rider on a CG motorcycle when it was reportedly struck from behind by another vehicle.

The young woman sustained injuries and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she died while receiving medical treatment.

While information remains sketchy about the fatal accident, Josiah’s aunt told Guyana Times on Monday night that the woman left home on Sunday for work. She reportedly worked at an East Bank gas station.

The grieving aunt explained that she was at work when she received a telephone call from a relative informing her of the accident.

She immediately rushed to the Hospital, but by that time, the young woman had died.

The family, Josiah’s aunt added, did not know much about the accident and were looking for answers. During the brief telephone conversation, the aunt noted that the young woman might have left work and gone out with friends and was apparently heading home when the accident occurred.

She noted that the family members have to revisit the police station today for an update as to what really transpired.

The woman related that family members were in a state of shock over the death of the young woman. The mother of the dead woman, Guyana Times understands, is devastated.

“Every time, she look at Paulette photo she faint… she staring at the walls as if she is lost,” a family friend related.

Josiah was the eldest of four children and was described as a hardworking and determined young lady. The Police have launched an investigation into the accident. It is not clear if anyone was in Police custody assisting with investigations.
