Director of Prisons, Carl Graham, when contacted told Guyana Times that the men were clearing overgrown vegetation from the penitentiary’s fence when they made good their escape about 10:30h on Monday.

He added that both Police and prison ranks were out in the field gathering information with the hope of recapturing the men. Graham is urging residents in the area to be extra cautious and to provide any information that can lead to the recapture of the two men to the Police.

Just over a week ago, three juveniles escaped from the Holding Centre at Sophia, Greater Georgetown.

He hails from the Essequibo Coast. Another was recaptured at Tain Settlement, Corentyne, Berbice. The third is still on the run.
