AK-47, ammo found in Linden house

Police in E Division (Linden-Kwakwani) are investigating the discovery of a high-powered weapon and several rounds of ammunition and ammunition components at a house.
According to reports, the Police were able to recover an AK-47 rifle, two magazines and 15 rounds of matching ammunition; 15 live .38 rounds, 39 9mm live rounds and 21 .223 live rounds, along with a magazine.

The discovery was made after a man stumbled upon the cache while house cleaning. The Police said that while cleaning, the 42-year-old citizen observed a haversack behind a wardrobe and upon examination of its contents, found the firearm and ammunition.
The individual subsequently rushed to a nearby Police Station and lodged a report of his discovery. This resulted in a Police team to responding and taking possession of the cache.
Initially, investigations revealed that the owners of the house reportedly reside overseas; however, the property was rented prior to the discovery. Nevertheless, further investigations are continuing.
