Businessman charged for stealing motor van

Sixty-six-year-old Leslie Chand of South Ruimveldt, Georgetown was yesterday arraigned before Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly to answer charges of larceny.
It is alleged that on August 16, at East La Penitence, Georgetown, he stole a motor van valued .4 million, property of Layne Bailey. Chand denied that he had stolen the motor van when the charge was read to him by the magistrate. The court heard that Chand had sold the vehicle to Bailey, then reportedly stole it and resold it to another person.

He was also charged with allegedly stealing Terrence Green’s 16-pennyweight gold chain valued at $160,000.
However, his attorney told the court that his client is vehemently denying the allegations being made against him. As such, he was granted bail on both charges to the tune of $380,000. He is expected to next appear in Court on October 21, 2017.
