Businessman on trial for gun, ammo possession

The trial of the city businessman who was busted with a firearm and matching rounds at Palm Court, Georgetown, commenced on Thursday when he made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

The charge stated that Carl Carter, on October 8, 2016, was in possession of a revolver and four matching rounds at Palm Court, Main Street, Georgetown.

Carter, who made his first court appearance on Thursday, was represented by Attorney-at-Law Stanley Moore.

Corporal Eastman took to the witness box to testify against the accused. Police Prosecutor Kevin London told the court that on the day in question, Police officials, acting upon information, entered the premises of the popular nightspot and searched Carter, finding in his possession a firearm with matching ammunition.

The man was taken into custody and subsequently released on station bail.

The matter will continue on February 27, 2017 at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
