Chase hammer BHS 13-0 to win N/Gtown final

Chase Academic Foundation sent out strong warnings to all future opponents in this year’s Digicel Schools Football Championships after they inflicted a 13-0 hammering over The Bishops’ High School (BHS) on Thursday at the Guyana Defense Force (GDF) ground, Camp Ayangana.

Ryan Hackett’s helmet-trick, a hat-trick by Kelsey Benjamin, doubles by Jobe Caesar and Joshua Williams, aided by successful strikes by Stephon Reynolds and Timothy Albert sealed the thumping victory on a bright afternoon.

Benjamin was the first to start the excitement when he narrowly scored by sending the ball inches wide of goalkeeper Keith Cort.

The talented forward returned to score in the sixth, beating two defenders and scoring from inside the box.

It was then Hackett who scored off an attempted crossed that eventually sailed into the box in the 8th.

The BHS unit were failing to mark the opposition’s mid fielders and the duo of Benjamin and Hackett captilised when the former unleashed a powerful strike that rebounded into the path of Hackett who drilled home the third goal in the 13th.

Caesar had a chance to make it four when he had a valiant run from the mid field that reached inside the box, cutting past three defenders but was stopped by sliding tackle by Cort.

In the 30th minute Caesar got his chance to make amends when unleashed a powerful strike after dribbling past the backline.

It seemed Benjamin could not be taken out of the match, as sprinting from the mid-field he collected a pass from the right wing after which he nonchalantly steered it to the left of the keeper in the 32nd.

In the 48th Williams scored via a header that beat the keeper to his left.

Hackett showed some finesse in the 53rd when he dribbled his past the left back taking a shot with his left foot from the edge of the box that went into the top left corner.

Benjamin again scored his skilled with a shot from inside that beat the keeper on his right in the 64th.

In the 65th, BHS had their first chance on a penalty but Brandon Walters picked the wrong side and was saved by the keeper.

Caesar scored his second in the 68th when he dinked the keeper; Hackett recorded his fourth when he took a shot peered into the top left in the 70th.

Reynolds, Albert and Williams once more sinked the Carmichael Street school when they scored in the in 75th, 76th and 79th.

Today, the South Georgetown Final will take place at the Tucville Ground where Sir Leon’s Lesson clash with Lodge Secondary from 15:30h.
