Driver critical after Mon Repos accident

A man, identified as Anthony Jairam, is now in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he crashed into a bridge at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Sunday afternoon.

According to details acquired by Guyana Times, the accident occurred around 04:00h when Jairam, who was driving a grey Premio motor car proceeding North along the Railway Embankment Road in Mon Repos, reportedly lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the bridge before spinning and crashing again into another section of the bridge.
As a result of the accident, the vehicle was badly mangled. Public-spirited persons rushed to the assistance of the victim who was trapped in the car.
After much effort, he was pulled from the car in an unconscious state and rushed to the Hospital’s emergency unit where he is receiving treatment.
One eyewitness, a shop owner who lives in the vicinity of the bridge where the accident occurred, said the injured man’s entire upper body was bloodied.
According to the man (no name given), the accident victim “looked like he in bad shape, because when them man pull he out of the car, he whole top part was full of blood, all he face”. (Kizzy Coleman)
