Everest hammer GYO by 342 runs

Everest Cricket Club continued to showcase their strength in Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) competitions by registering a resounding 342-run victory over a hapless Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) team yesterday at the GYO ground.
Scores in the match: Everest 329-9 declared and 154 all out; GYO 77 and 64.

Javed Rasheed

Opting to bat first, Everest posted a solid first innings score of 329-9 on the first day, Saturday, compliments of Dwayne Adams 78, Kevin Paul 65, and Travis Mohammed 54.
Bowling for the hosts, Wazim Ally claimed 6-112 and Richard Hoyte took 3-73.
In reply, the GYO batsmen were tormented before they folded for 77, as Paul 4-17 and Javed Rasheed 3-35 combined to dispose of seven wickets. R. Melville made 43.
Instead of enforcing the follow-on, Everest decided to bat again, and were dismissed for 154, with Gavin Sookdeo and Khemraj Ramdeen making 25 and 24 respectively.
Ray Gill (3-49) and Richard Hoyte (3-66) were the architects of the Everest second innings’ collapse at the GYO ground.
However, with a mammoth target of 402 to claim a come-from-behind victory, the GYO batsmen found themselves mesmerized by consistent left-arm orthodox spinner Rasheed, who bagged 8-30 from 10.5 overs and ended the match with a 10-wicket haul.
GYO could muster only 64 in their second innings, thus losing by 342 runs.
