Father of 11 slapped with narco-trafficking charge

Shawn Small, 48, a father of 11, was on Thursday arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on a charge of being in possession of eight grams of cannabis at Stabroek Market Square, Georgetown on October 11.
The Prosecution is contending that the narcotics were found among supplies delivered to Small at his stall.
Represented by Attorney-at-law Clyde Ford, Small denied the charge, and Ford detailed that his client resides in Kitty, Georgetown and is a stall owner at the Stabroek Market.
The lawyer informed the court that his client was unpacking his merchandise, which had just arrived by delivery, when Police arrived on the scene and began their search.
The lawyer requested reasonable bail for his client, and Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore did not object to bail. This was granted in the sum of ,000.
Small’s case will be called again on November 1.
