Fish vendor slapped with robbery charge

Fish vendor Afrido Yankana of Section “E” Hadfield Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown was on Friday arraigned before Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly on a robbery charge alleging that on June 17, 2017 at Brickdam, Georgetown, while being in the company of others and being armed with a knife, he robbed Sukram Singh of one Samsung Galaxy phone valued ,000, one chain valued $20,000, one Cayenne belt valued $5000, one bag valued $3000, and $32,000 cash, all to a total value of $80,000.

Yankana pleaded not guilty to the charge; and because the prosecution had no objection to bail being granted him — only requesting that same be set at a substantial amount because of the serious nature of the offence – he was placed on $80,000 bail, and the case was set to continue on July 14.
