It was a clean sweep for the GCC female teams as the club dominated the two- day Igloo Ice-cream Hockey tournament held on Saturday and Sunday at the GCC Club. Games were played on an artificial turf mini-hockey field.With the tournament aimed at promoting youth development in hockey, it was all about GCC teams as they began on Saturday by winning the Under-10 Mixed category with two GCC sides in the final. The GCC Hurricanes beat the GCC Thunder by 2 goals to nil to clinch the first title.In the semi-finals of the U-14 girls, two GCC sides again booked spots in the finals as the GCC Marian team beat Saints Sensation 5-

2 while GCC Challengers won 6-5 on penalties against GCC Warriors.When action resumed on Sunday, the GCC Marian girls continued their fine form as they held off sister side Challengers in the U-14 Girls Final to win 7-6.Meanwhile, in the Boys U-14 final, Saints Scorpions had an entertaining victory over Hikers as they won 4-2 to clinch the title.The GCC Spartans demolished a hapless Saints 4-1 to claim the U-17 Girls title while St Joseph Warriors were upset by Old Fort Cannons in the boys final when they lost 6-2.In U-21 Ladies action GCC Spartans put the Old Fort Lady Bugs to the sword beating them 9 goals to 4 as the GCC female teams stretched their dominance.The GCC Boys U-21 side matched their female counterparts as they too won their category when they beat Old Fort Lions 6-3 in the final.In the Open Female action GCC Pizza Hut made it a clean sweep for their club as they beat Woodpecker Hikers 4-1.The Old Fort males had better fortune than the Old Fort females as they won the Men’s Open category when they beat Saints 6-3 in the final.GCC Spartans’ Abosaide Cadogan and Sarah Klautky shared honours as the top female goal scorers with 21 goals apiece while Bounty GCC’s Kareem McKenzie snared top male goal scorer with 15 goals.
