Georgetown thumps East Bank by 149 runs

An instrumental 160-run second wicket partnership between junior national players Sachin Singh 88 and Alphius Bookie 87 set up Georgetown for a mammoth victory over East Bank Demerara on Saturday at the Everest Cricket Club ground.

East Bank won the toss and invited the host to take first strike. They reached 32 before they lost the wicket of Adrian Hinds for 21, but it was the only success for the visitors in the first half of the game.

Singh and Bookie batted responsibly during their substantial partnership which saw the former accounted for six fours while the latter belted 11 fours and a solitary six.

The partnership was broken when Bookie tried to up the tempo in the dying overs of the innings while Singh fell in the final over. Ashmead Nedd scored 17.

Joel Craig and Kester Mc Allister claimed two wickets apiece for the visitors while Jeremiah Scott captured one scalp.

East Bank folded for 100 in reply with Movindra Dindyal making 25 while Jamal Michael and Tuen Hicks scored 15 not out and 12 respectively. Joel Spooner claimed four wickets while Nedd grabbed three.
