GTT staff donate 34 units blood

World Blood Donor Day

Staff members of the GTT have donated 34 units of blood to the National Blood Bank in observance of World Blood Donor Day 2017 –June 14.
Held at the company’s headquarters, the blood donation exercise was an initiative of GTT staff and is intended to potentially save the lives of persons in need of blood.

National Blood Bank Phlebotomist Yonette Jeffrey highlighted that the 34 pints of blood were received from the GTT team in quite timely fashion, since several paediatric surgeries scheduled for the end of this week require adequate supplies of blood.
The GTT staff who initiated the blood donation exercise are encouraging employees of other companies to organize a similar activity at their places of work.
World Blood Donor Day is observed by countries around the world every year on June 14. The event, established in 2004, serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products, and to thank blood donors for their voluntary lifesaving gifts of blood.
