Gunman hijacks taxi driver’s car

A North Ruimveldt, Georgetown man is now in a distraught state after he was held up by a lone gunman and robbed of his motor car on Saturday night.
Reports are Michael Jacobs stopped at East Street, Georgetown about 23:20h and was talking on his cellular phone when the lone gunman pounced on him.
Guyana Times was told that the hijacker pointed a gun at him and demanded his motor car, PSS 3274. The gunman also snatched an iPhone and a Blu Phone along with 00. He then told Jacobs to leave the key in the ignition and exit the car, and the taxi driver complied. The gunman subsequently made good his escape in the car.
The Mazda motor car was discovered stripped of its mirrors and battery around 10:30h on Sunday in Meadow Brook Gardens, Greater Georgetown.
The Police are currently hunting for the gunman as investigations continue.
Just seven days ago, a young couple of Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD) were attacked and robbed of their motor car.
Three men attacked Niketa Khan and her husband and robbed them of the car, along with documents and some ,000 in cash.
No arrest has yet been made.
