Guyana complete clean sweep in Table Tennis

While some of the other sport disciplines Guyana may have faced the hammer of the Surinamese,  Guyana made ensured that their rich vein of table tennis dominance continued at the Inter Guiana Games (IGG) as the obliterated their Dutch-speaking neighbours winning both male and female categories at the National Gymnasium on Sunday.

Led by Shemar Britton, the male team sauntered to a 5-0 win, with Britton winning both of his team matches 3-0.
Britton used his skill and experience to beat Adesh Jawir 3-0 (11-5, 11-3 and 11-1) after which Jared Joogea faced the same faith losing 11-6, 11-4 and 11-1.
In the doubles aspect of the team competition, Nicklous Romain and Elishaba Johnson defeated Joogea and Jawir 3-1 at 11-8, 11-3, 8-11, 11-7 while Johnson overcame Joogea 3-0 at 11-2, 11-4, 11-7 in his single event.
Romain  was the last to win a singles match against a tough Kono Abas  3-1 as both players showed variety in shot selection with the set points going as follows in favor of Romain 11-7, 11-3, 10-12, 12-10.
Similarly, the female slammed the Surinamese with a 5-0 thumping, as the talented Priscilla Greaves easily won both of her individual matches 3-0.
Greaves tackled Kristel Wijntuin and won her sets, 11-2,  11-4 and 11-3; the player then downed Sharifa Hooghart 11-6, 11-5 and 11-2.
In the doubles bout of the female team competition, Selenas Jackman and Aneka Phillips of Guyana displayed their dominance as well with a 3-0  over Hooghart and Kristel Wijntuin with the sets playing out 11-5, 11-5 and 11-5.
Jackman also dominated in her individual match winning 3-0 against Janily Tamrin at 11-4, 11-2 and 13-11, while Neveah Clarkston took her only match of the team competition 3-1 over Hooghart at 11-6, 11-6, 7-11 and 11-4.
