Hotspotgy.com makes donation to GPHC

Guyana’s premier entertainment website, Hotspotgy.com, over the years has expanded its brand by creating a charity arm and hosting a Cabana themed cocktail event every year to raise funds to support a charity and/or organisation in need of assistance.
This year, the Cabana Cocktail event was held on February 18 at the 704 Sky Lounge and was the second year such a charity event was held. The funds raised from the 2016 event were used to assist Hero-Gy Charity, the Guyana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA), the East La Penitence Homeless Shelter, and the Step by Step Foundation. Assistance was also given to the family of baby Renie Rogers, to aid in payment for reconstructive surgery.
The funds garnered from this year’s event focused on supporting post-natal care of newborns and the mothers in the Maternity Ward at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC). Specifically, the entertainment group provided 100 “Baby Boxes” that were given to women who gave birth at the GPHC between March 25 and 26.
The Baby Boxes were designed to help new mothers during their first month or two after the birth of their baby. The items in the box consist of pampers, baby wipes, blankets, a baby bag, bonnets with mittens and booty, onsies, bath towels, bibs, washing rags, socks, infant shampoo, lotion, and powder – all of which were suggested by the GPHC after consultations.
The group thanked its sponsors for contributing to its events and ultimately to the drive. These include 704 Sky Lounge, Cloud Nine Inc, Ultra Graphix, Jammi Jerk and Caribbean Containers Inc.
This charity arm of Hotspotgy.com comprises Travis Montooth, Shelisa Sattaur, Roger Peroune, Tracy Smith, Indira Chanderpaul and Rabin Chanderpaul.
