Inter-company cricket to light up Thirst Park

Three companies have agreed to a friendly tape-ball cricket competition tonight at the Banks DIH Thirst Park ground from 18:00h with bragging rights and lots of silverware at stake.
Health International Inc have combined with Global Printing and Global Packaging to open the competition under the floodlights against longtime rivals, the New GPC Inc while Guyana Times Media Group and a combined XI will play the second match.
The matches will be 10 overs per side and since the opening fixtures are semi-finals and the winners will meet in the final for the towering winners’ trophy.

Additionally, the batsman to score the most runs on the night, bowler with the most wickets and the Man of the Match in the final will all receive a trophy for their efforts.
Some stalwarts in the tape ball arena spoke to Guyana Times Sport about their chances. Marcus Watkins will turn out for Health International Inc, Global Printing and Global Packaging combined team and said he will bring his ‘A’ game and will look for the support of his team mates as they look to lift the trophy and silence the competition and go for a sweep of the trophies.
Akeem Greene is expected to play a major part in the competition if Guyana Times Media Group will advance. Greene said after intense training his team will be looking to go all the way with little worry.
Chaitram Singh who is in the New GPC lineup said that since the final XI will be difficult to pick it shows the strength of the team and they will show their dominance tonight. The event was organized to bring camaraderie among the companies but promises to be everything but friendly.
Admission to Thirst Park for tonight’s event is free.
