The Jamaican authorities are reporting that they have discovered some 75 kilograms (165 pounds) of cocaine stashed away in four containers shipped from Guyana and Suriname.
According to a report in the Jamaica Observer, officers assigned to the Narcotics Division and members of the Contraband Enforcement Team (CET) of the Jamaica Custom Agency 
conducted an operation at the Kingston Freeport Terminal, Gordon Quay, Port Bustamante Wharf, which led to the seizure of more than 165 pounds of cocaine. Reports are that a few days ago, four containers shipped from Guyana and Suriname were searched and found to contain 56 parcels of cocaine. Police said the drug seized has an estimated street value of J$77,216,000 (G$124,317,760).
Two containers were shipped from Guyana and contained two travelling bags each. One of the bags contained 31 parcels of cocaine, while the other contained 12. The other two containers were shipped from Suriname with two knapsacks containing a total of 13 packets of cocaine.
On Friday, one of the containers from Guyana showed anomalies in the refrigeration section upon scanning. The Police say the section of the container was disassembled and a further 10 parcels of cocaine were seized.
The Police investigation is still ongoing with no arrests made so far.
About three weeks ago, Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) agents, acting on information, inspected a shipment of dressed lumber at Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, and discovered some 84.9 kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of $550 million.
Sherwayne De Abreu; motorcycle racer Stephen Vieira, and motor car racers Tazim Gafoor and his son, Nazim Gafoor, were all charged for trafficking in narcotics as a result. The fifth suspect, Narine Lall, the alleged would-be shipper, is still on the run.
Vieira, before his arrest, travelled to Suriname and Jamaica and then surrendered to the Police after a wanted bulletin was issued for him.
