Kwakwani meet Jets in do or die clash

LABA/Hamid Foundation Under 23 Basketball

After forfeiting their opening game which they had won, Kwakwani, with one win and one loss, finds themselves in a win or go home situation when they face Amelia’s Ward Jets tonight in the final preliminary game of their group to finalize the semifinals of the Linden Amateur Basketball Association / Hamid Foundation Under 23 basketball championship at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court.

This evening’s clashes will wrap up the preliminary round action as already through from Group A are leaders Half Mile Bulls and Retrieve Raiders who they defeated to remain unbeaten after the first round of matches.

Group B is one that the Jets will top having already gotten four points from two wins and a loss tonight will find them on five points.

However, Kwakwani would be second to the Jets with a win, because they are currently on two points. Having played an ineligible player when they won their first game and then winning their next game meant they are still on two points due to losing all their points from that game they forfeited. A win therefore tonight means they will finish like the Falcons on four points, but will move through to the semifinals having beaten the Bankers Trust Falcons in their head to head clash earlier.

Falcons are on four points from one win and two losses. The Kwakwani team then on three points from one win, one loss and another defeat due to the forfeiture where they got no points. It is therefore a ding dong clash between the sub region side Kwakwani and the Jets at 18:30h in what will be the first game. The second game is of no importance apart for the records because neither the Christianburg Pistons nor their opponents Block 22 Flames can advance to the next round but they are after their first win after two previous losses.

That Pistons versus Flames game is set for 20:30h after the first game will be starting at 18:30h sharp.
