Lodge vendor remanded for ganja possession

A 23-year-old vendor of Princes Street, Lodge, Georgetown, was remanded to prison by Magistrate Fabayo Azore after he pleaded not guilty to possession of a quantity of cannabis, which was found concealed in a packet when Police raided his home recently.
According to the charge, it is alleged that Aubrey Price on May 24, 2017 at Princes Street, Lodge, was in possession of 26.5 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
The prosecution objected to bail on the basis that the illicit drug was found in the defendant’s possession, as well as the nature and gravity of the offence.
Defence counsel Bernard DaSilva argued that the said narcotic was not found in the possession of his client, noting rather that Police visited his client’s home and conducted a search therein, discovering a quantity of cannabis.
He was then reportedly arrested and taken to Brickdam Police Station for questioning after which he was placed on ,000 station bail.
Bail was refused, and Price was remanded to prison until June 14, 2017 when the matter would proceed to trial.
