Leaders of the Jaguars Franchise League, Lower Corentyne, were well placed at 70-1 in reply to East Coast 277 all out at the close of day one of their fifth round clash at Albion Community Centre Ground.

East Coast’s innings was built on the back of Chanderpaul Hemraj’s 91. Guyana under 19 all-rounder Bhaskar Yadram stroked a composed 71.

Lower Corentyne in reply, are set on 70/1 with the inform Jonathan Foo not out on 36 and Surujnarine Kandasammy on 27.

At the Port Mourant Community Centre ground, Upper Corentyne declared at 206/9 with skipper Rajiv Ivan stroking an outstanding 93 and was well supported by Kevlon Anderson who made 33 playing his first match of this competition.

Bowling for Essequibo, Kevin Gordon had 3/41 while Anthony Adams continued to show progress with his left arm spin as he grabbed 3/46.

Essequibo in reply are 99/4 with Shivnarine Chanderpaul on 21 and Ricardo Adams on one. Eon Hooper has so far taken 2/24.

At Lusignan, Georgetown’s miserable run continued as they were bowled for 170 after they won the toss and opted to bat. Andrew Lyght Jnr top scored with 47 while Kellon Carmichael supported with 40 as Looknauth claimed 4/34 and Romario Shephard 3/56 for ‘West Dem.’

West Demerara closed the day on 164/2 with Tagenarine Chanderpaul six runs away from a century (94*) and Akshaya Persaud on 49 not out. Andre Stoll and Gajanan Suknanan have so far taken a wicket each.

At Enterprise Community Development Centre ground, West Berbice won the toss and decided to bat. They were led by Kayron Fraser who scored a century batting at number 10 as he led West Berbice to a formidable 407/9 at the close. He is on 120 not out while Collis Butts is on 34 not out. Andrew Dutchin earlier made 71 while opener Avinash Sewkarran chipped in with 50.

Bowling for East Bank, Steven Jacobs and Arshaad Ali has so far taken 3/99 and 2/39 respectively.

All matches are scheduled to resume at 9:30h on the second day.
