Man in Mon Repos accident identified

The young driver who crashed his grey Toyota Premio motorcar into a bridge on the railway embankment at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD) over the weekend has been identified as 18-year-old Anthony Jairam of Success, East

His condition was initially listed as critical, but Guyana Times was told on Monday that he is now listed as stable.
Jairam was reportedly speeding in a northerly direction along the railway embankment at about 14:00h on Sunday when he lost control of his vehicle and it crashed into a bridge. The impact of this crash caused the car to spin around and crash into another section of the bridge before finally coming to a halt.
Public-spirited persons pulled the teenager from the badly damaged vehicle in an unconscious state, and he was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) emergency unit with severe injuries to his face and body.
A shop owner who had witnessed the accident told this publication that the entire upper body of the injured man was bloodied.
