In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate stated that the prosecution had presented substantial evidence; therefore, she found the accused guilty of the offence.

The charge against King stated that on August 27, at the Brickdam Police Station while in lawful custody for a criminal offence, he escaped.

King is facing another charge of robbery under arms. Since he was absent, the Chief Magistrate issued an order in relation to that matter for him to attend court on December 19.

King, during his initial appearance, had denied both charges and registered a not-guilty plea.

In King’s initial defence, he alleged that his sister paid Police Officers to arrest him so that she could have full ownership of a piece of land his deceased mother left to both of them.

He denied the allegations levelled against him. He also explained that he did not escape from the Police Station, but simply left the premises after speaking to an officer at the Station.
