Mohammed’s GTRs face Surinamese threat

“Reaction” Dragz race meet…

Dubbed the fastest cars in Guyana on the “straight-away,” Mohammed’s Enterprise Nissan GTRs could be in line for stern test once more from counterparts from Suriname when the Guyana Motor Racing Sports Club (GMR&SC) hosts “Reaction” Dragz race meet on Sunday at the South Dakota Circuit.
When team Guyana visited the Dutch country, the Nova and the GT-R ended up in the finals but the Nova had a false start which made the GT-R the official the winner.
However, both cars took the line once more  for a grudge run and  the Nova willed off the line when the lights turned green and was leading the race but not for long as “Godzilla” (Nissan GTR) whizzed pass to a close finish.

The visitors will certainly want revenge and Sunday could just be the opportunity to unleash the power required. The Cobra Jet Ford Mustang, ‘Fast Five’ Chevy Nova, ‘PrakoTruck’s’ Toyota Supra, ‘Global Racing’s’ Mazda RX-7, Toyota Chasers, Mitsubishi Evolution and Suzuki GSXRs Motorbikes.
The likes of the Cobra Jet Ford Mustang, ‘Fast Five’ Chevy Nova, ‘PrakoTruck’s’ Toyota Supra, ‘Global Racing’s’ Mazda RX-7, Toyota Chasers, Mitsubishi Evolution and Suzuki GSXRs Motorbikes such also be in action.
At the last drag meet on home turf,  the car produced the fastest time of 8.2 seconds over the quarter-mile.
The Surinamese though, were not to be denied. In the B class, Suriname’s Ryan Chakwri, driving a Toyota Chaser, was best in his class and his compatriot Ashian Cajaram won the ‘C’ class in a similar car.
Raymond John, in another Chaser, won the ‘D’ class. Sachin Ramotar, in a Toyota Starlet, was the ‘E’ Class champion. Surinamese riders Giovanny Slagveer and Tom Gumperts won the 600 and 1000cc classes respectively.
Overall, the Guyanese, namely Sanjay Persaud, Annand Ramchand, Shawn Persaud as well as the Daby brothers Peter and Rondel should help repel any threat from the Dutch.
Meanwhile, on race day, up to $50,000 will be a stake for the fastest bus with free runs beginning from 09:00h followed by qualifying at 10:00h and the knock-out rounds from 11:00h.
