MOTP launches ‘Go Green’ Mashramani band

The Ministry of the Presidency (MOTP) on Monday morning launched its Mashramani 2017 Band under the theme “Renewable Energy to Achieve a Green Economy”.

Revelling to her 2017 Mash song “Mash up de place”, Melissa “Vanilla” Roberts will be leading the MOTP band on the road come Mashramani Day.

It was a morning of great excitement and jubilance as the soca artiste hyped the crowd during the launch as the revellers arrived.

The creative costumes to be displayed were the handy work of designer Carol Fraser, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Miracle Designs.

The aim of MOTP on Mash Day is to support the call for a greener economy, which will be depicted in the designs of the costumes.

According to Fraser, the entire world is excited about going green in 2017 and as such, she is promoting the same.

“The whole world is talking about going green, even the President is pushing the Go Green Initiative and this is not because it is a billion-dollar industry, but it is because of the positive impact it is creating in our economy… on Mash Day, the Office of the President will be using renewable energy as part of showing how we can reverse climate change and promote green innovation,” the designer explained.

Her individual piece to be displayed on Mash Day will promote the solar and the wind turbine; the other costumes are all created from the byproducts of same.

The band will be taking to the street with 50 revellers that will definitely put on a great show.

Speaking with the media following the launch, a much energised Roberts expressed her anticipation for Guyana’s Republic celebrations. “I am looking forward to Mash Day to ‘Mash up de place’ with lots of energy, I am telling you, it will be energy nonstop”.

Quite a number of bands hitting the road this Mashramani will be showing their support toward the Go Green Initiative.
