Nedd upbeat as GTT tape ball tournament bowls off

As one of its lead up activities to the “Biggest Party in Sport”, the Caribbean Premier League, major sponsor and Telephone giant GTT bowled off its tape ball tournament yesterday at the National Park Tarmac.
So far, 60 teams have registered for the event. They come from Georgetown and East Coast Demerara, while teams from West Demerara have until next Saturday to register for the tournament.

CEO of the GTT, Justin Nedd, who officially bowled off the tournament, is upbeat in regard to how the event will unfold.
“Good morning members of the community, the teams, so many Guyanese. It is fun to be here today. This is GTT giving back into the communities, and it really kick starts the cricket season as we get into the 2017 CPL, where we are the proud sponsors of the Guyana Amazon Warriors.”
Nedd expressed optimism — because of the overwhelming response and the amount of teams that have so far registered – that the tournament would be a resounding success.
The teams will be competing for more than $350,000, with the winners set to walk away with $200,000, a trophy and 10 tickets for the CPL opener in Guyana between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Jamaica Tallawahs.
The runners-up will walk away with $100,000 and a trophy, while the third-placed team will take home $50,000. Additionally, there will be other prizes for outstanding performances.
The final is slated for the 30th July at a venue yet to be confirmed.
