NEVER SAY NEVER! Warriors very optimistic-says Manager Khan

Guyana Amazon Warriors, arguably the most popular team in the Hero’s Caribbean Premier League – and certainly the most consistent – have had a luckless start to their 2017 campaign as they struggled to win matches they would have dominated for most part.
Thus they have found themselves in an unfortunate situation although they have been competitive in all of their games.

Therefore it will take a never say die attitude from the Amazon Warriors if they are to reach the play-off stage like the St Lucia Stars did in the 2016 edition when they qualified with six wins and four losses in the round robin stage.
Manager of the Amazon Warriors Omar Khan is adamant that the fans have nothing to worry about as there are still 5 games to be played, all of which the Warriors are aiming to win.

Steven Jacobs has been the Warriors most in-form bowlers

“I want to give the assurance to all of Guyana and Amazon Warriors fans that we still have five games. There are six teams in the tournament, out of those six teams four teams qualify for the playoffs. One team is already out, that is St. Lucia so we have five teams fighting to progress and we are still optimistic of the Warriors winning to qualify”, detailed Khan.
The Amazon Warriors have always been dominant at home and the next three to five days of home advantage and home support will be important as Khan agrees.
“The players love that support, they love the energy that the fans bring to the game and it also motivates them… for example Steven Jacobs on Thursday night with his passion and his energy. The way he bowled he wanted to prove to the Guyanese people his passion and what he could do.”
The Warriors will clash with tournament leaders Trinbago Knight Riders today from 12:00h – the second of four home games for the Warriors, who remain on two points after five games.
Meanwhile, Guyana Amazon Warriors captain, Martin Guptill, noted his team would have to rectify what went wrong in their previous match as they aim to be positive against archrivals Trinbago Knight Riders.
While blooming in confidence Knight Riders captain Dwayne Bravo is expecting an easy game against the Warriors.
