North Ruimveldt man fined for assault

A 36-year-old man of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was fined ,000 after he appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on a charge of assault.
Lloyd Kissoon pleaded guilty with explanation to the charge which stated that on September 9, 2016 at Alexander Street, Kitty, he assaulted Ronald Williams as to cause actual bodily harm.
Kissoon explained to the court that he was a construction worker at the Kitty Market and on the day in question, the Virtual Complainant (VC) was under the influence. As such, he asked him to leave the compound of the market, which he refused to do. Kissoon claimed the man was behaving disorderly, so he took a piece of wood from the work site and “braced” him on his leg.
The prosecution’s case revealed that an argument ensued between the VC and the defendant, which escalated into the assault on the Virtual Complainant, who suffered injuries to his hand and back.
