Thereafter, the pedestrian was pronounced dead on arrival and the injured policeman was treated and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was admitted. Police indicated that around 02:30h Sunday, Gentle was proceeding south on the Timehri Public Road, EBD when he lost control of his PTT 5444 motorcar and crashed into a utility pole. Gentle sustained injuries as a result of the collision. It was not clear if he sustained additional injuries as result of the second accident. Investigations into both matters are continuing.
