Porter charged for stealing Milo

A porter employed at the Chris Variety Store in Georgetown appeared on Wednesday before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court for stealing a quantity of Milo from his employer.
Lakeram Shaw, 30, of Barr Street, Kitty, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by city Magistrate Judy Latchman.
The charge stated that between June 1, 2017 and August 18, 2017, at the above-mentioned variety store while being employed as a clerk, Shaw stole five cases of tinned Milo valued 0,000 and three cases of Milo packs valued at ,000 along with other items worth a total of 0,295, property of Christopher Narine.
Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves revealed that the porter was entrusted with the items mentioned in the charge to make deliveries.
However, during the month of June, the Virtual Complainant (VC) observed that several items continued to come up missing and as such, reported the matter.
Shaw was taken into Police custody, questioned on the allegation and admitted under caution to stealing same. As such, he was arrested and charged.
Prosecutor Gonsalves did not object to bail being granted to the defendant and this was granted in the sum of 0,000. Shaw is scheduled to next come before the court on September 13, 2017.
