President’s College ground cleared after 10 years

‒ football programme to be launched

The students of President’s College , Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara now stand to benefit from a football programme that has been made possible through the student alumni and Jafar Gibbons.
Within months of putting forward a proposal to have a fully comprehensive football programme that should be fully operative at the school, the school’s playground which hasn’t been cleaned or cleared for close to 10 years was recently cleared.

The recently cut President’s College School ground

The programme which is designed to institute the sport of football at the school will be aimed at both male and female teams with the goal of establishing respective teams. It is for children attending the school throughout the academic year and they could be potentially coached by coaches from the Coaches Association once everything goes according to plan.
This ground will now also be accessible for many other disciplines of sport along with football and athletics.
Gibbons who is one of the main persons behind the move hailed the clearing of the ground as “another step in the right direction.”
The football programme he noted is picking up momentum and will commence on September 18th.
