Roraima kicks off 3-day Wedding Expo

Guyanese of all walks of life are expected to flock to Duke Lodge in Kingston, Georgetown for the 2017 edition of Wedding Expo, which officially opened on Friday and will culminate on Sunday. One of the main attractions will be a wedding ceremony. Speaking on this year’s theme, ‘Magnificent Beginnings’, representative Dellon Murray told Guyana Times on Friday that the March 24-26 event will be streamed live.

Akeem Peter and his bride Kerron Boston will say “I do” before all of Guyana today

He further noted that today’s wedding between Akeem Peter and his bride, Kerron Boston will include live entertainment and their exchange of vows will be witnessed by all of Guyana. He encouraged all to come out and support the event.

“Wherever you are, every village of Guyana, needs to be at Wedding expo,” he stated.

Friday’s feature included a cultural extravaganza while today’s highlight will be the couple’s wedding. In addition, one the main sponsors of the event, GTT, through its marketing representative, Nadia De Abreu said the company is elated to be part of the three-day affair. The event wraps up Sunday and next year’s expo will be held on a grander scale as it will be the tenth edition. The ninth annual Wedding Expo is hosted by the Roraima Group of Companies and was first launched in 2009.

Social Protection Minister Amna Ally gave the key note address at Friday’s opening. Products on display include dresses from various cultures, hena and afro-centric designs, jewellery and various décor designs.

Akeem Peter, who had proposed to his now fiancé, Kerron Boston, 49 times before she agreed to wed him, was earlier this year announced as the winner of Roraima Airways “Race to Altar” Wedding Expo competition at the Duke Lodge Hotel. At today’s ceremony, the two will make their life-long commitment before friends, family and the public. The couple was awarded with a fully paid wedding package, among other gifts when they fought off several others to make it to the altar.

Roraima’s Chief Executive Officer, Captain Gerry Gouveia had stated in February that the event would have enabled the marketing of a number of small and medium-sized businesses in the wedding and entertainment sector.
