Playing at the Guyana Defence (GDF) Ground, Soesdyke were led by a superb hat-trick by captain Tryone Khan that gave them the 4-3 win over the East Coast Demerara school. Khan recorded goals in the 27th, 33rd and 36th while Shanon Sammauth scored the opening goal in the 11th minute of the match.
At half time, Ann’s Grove were trailing by 3 but they seemed a rejuvenated side in the second half, scoring three goals in quick time which threatened a miraculous comeback; Kevin Williams (55th), Rashleigh Morrison (59th) and Peter Headly were the lads on target for Ann’s Grove.
The championship will continue today at the same venue where Chase Academy play The Bishops’ High School from 15:30 hrs in another knock out game in the preliminary round of the competition.
