The dismembered body, suspected to be that of a missing 21-year-old Berbice man was found in a burial ground at No. 55 Village on the Corentyne, Berbice on Friday.
Mahendra Ghanie of Bloomfield Village, Corentyne was last seen leaving his home on Monday to meet with his employer but instead, the remains suspected to be his were found in the burial ground, days later. Investigators confirmed that the body was chopped to pieces and burnt.
The prime suspect was taken into police custody and is assisting with the investigations.
