Taxi driver charged with careless driving

As Police seek to clamp down on drivers who are careless on the roadways, a taxi driver was on Wednesday charged with careless driving and appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Justin Court, 32, of Georgetown, pleaded guilty after the charge was read to him by Magistrate Judy Latchman.
The charge stated that on August 26, 2016 at Thomas and Quamina Streets, Georgetown, Court drove his motor car without due care and attention thereby causing damage to another vehicle.
He explained that on the day in question, he was given the go-ahead by another driver to pass and while doing so another vehicle emerged from the opposite side, causing the collision.
The prosecution had no objection to bail; however, it noted that the defendant failed to stop thereby causing the other vehicle involved in the accident to suffer extensive damage.
A not-guilty plea was entered after his explanation to the court.
He was granted ,000 bail and was scheduled to next appear on September 27, 2016.
