Woman busted with large quantity ammo

A Lamaha Street, Georgetown, resident is expected to make her court appearance on Monday (tomorrow) after she was caught with 69 live rounds of ammunition during a Police operation on Friday evening.

Reports are that the Police received a tip and went to the woman’s home where they conducted a search and found the ammunition.

Guyana Times understands the ammunition ranged from .32 to 9mm bullets. The woman was arrested and is presently assisting with the investigations.

The Police recently revealed that a total of 46 firearms were seized from January to August 20: 23 pistols, 13 revolvers and 10 shotguns.

The highest number of seizures was recorded in A Division (Georgetown/East Bank Demerara) with 20 seizures, while F Division (interior locations) followed with 12.
