The U-19s never recovered from their thrashing at the hands of the Young Achievers and their day only got worse as the Castrol Strikers also defeated them in straight sets to take four points.
Bartica rebounded well from their opening defeat to claim three points, as they sank Castrol Strikers by three of five sets.
Earlier, during the opening ceremony, DVA President Trevor Williams thanked the teams for not only showing up but being well-organised for the League.
Director of Sport, Christopher Jones, who was also present at the opening proceedings, underscored the efforts of the DVA to ensure League volleyball is played and offered the full support of the National Sports Commission (NSC) for future events of the DVA.
Castrol Strikers, Bartica Warriors, Young Achievers, and Demerara Under-19 are the male teams competing, while the Castrol Strikers, Vanguards VC, Linden and Bartica Warriors females will compete.
The League is sponsored by Stag Beer, the Office of the Prime Minister, NSC, Social Protection Ministry, Trophy Stall and Bakewell.
The Young Achievers sit in first place with seven points and are followed by Castrol with four, Bartica with three and the U-19s in the cellar with zero points.
Action in the female category will begin on Sunday starting at 09:00h.
