‘Tantalising’ ends with 1 critical, 1 in custody for attempted murder

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an altercation, which has left one teen critical after he was reportedly struck to the head with a plank by a 17-year-old youth.
Reports are Peter Liverstone, 18, is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
According to information reaching Guyana Times, the teens are known to each other but were not on speaking terms because of a previous incident.
However, it was related that the altercation stemmed from the two teasing each other at about 20:00h on Friday evening at La Retraite, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
This newspaper was told that the victim reportedly picked up the piece of wood and hit the suspect on the left side of his shoulder after he reportedly became annoyed over the tantalising.
The teen of Old Road, La Retraite, WBD, grabbed the wood from Liverstone and dealt him a blow to his head causing him to collapse.
Realising that Liverstone was unconscious, he was picked up and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was examined by a doctor.
He was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. A report was made to the Police who visited the scene. Police were unable to locate the plank that was used to hit Liverstone.
Several persons in the area were questioned, which led to the arrest of the teen.
