“Chinese Assassin” creating a storm on the Essequibo Coast

Twenty-six-year-old Andrew Yee, also referred to as “Chinese Assassin” is one of the hottest and most versatile deejays on the Essequibo Coast.
The father of one attended the St Ambrose Primary School in Queenstown, Georgetown and Abram Zuil Secondary School where he wrote the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and secured six subjects.
He is the fourth of eight children for his parents, Nadira Persaud and Kwang Yun. He spent most of his childhood in Queenstown, Georgetown but at the age of 12, he moved to Reliance on the Essequibo Coast where he resides presently.
During his teenager life he felt a passion for music, since he grew up opposite the Fusion Sound Family in Queenstown. He was fascinated with the juggling and at the way songs are being selected to suit a particular event.
Yee was also very adventurous and from time to time, he found himself exploring various opportunities and situations before him. He was also very active in school athletics.
Being a deejay, Yee says it makes him feel in control of his crowds by playing the right music and sending positive messages. Being a disc jockey, he stated, is not only about playing the music but rather someone who can influence an audience.
Although he has played at several functions and parties, he enjoyed the gigs at Essequibo Night, Moruca Expo and Christmas Eve Night at Sowiya Night Club.
He would have also participated in several sound clashes in Essequibo and is now gearing up for the Art of War.
His greatest memory of being a DJ is being connected with his fans. “The love is so amazing; I take that love and make it a positive motivation for myself to be better. I’m driven by the unconditional support of others… the rush and excitement gives me more determination”.
As a young deejay, he feels that there are a lot of guys who possess the raw natural talent but are often discouraged from following up such desires and are forced into doing something for other people’s happiness.  As such, he encourages them to be unique, developing their own style as early as possible. Success he noted comes from hard work and determination.
“If I can overcome all the obstacles in my path to success, there’s no doubt in my mind that you can’t. Keep thinking positive, continue the hard work and make wise choices,” he added.
On a lighter note, his favourite colours are black, white and red and he loves to eat seven curry, steamed greens and ginger chicken. During his leisure time, he keeps updating his music database and expanding his knowledge on the latest releases. He also enjoys chilling with friends but most importantly, he loves time spent with his fiancé.
