Dindyal, Singh propel Diamond Secondary to zone final

GCB/National Secondary School Cricket League 2016…

Twelve year old Mavendra Dindyal of Diamond Secondary starred again with bat and ball to spur his team to a 69-run victory and book their place in the East Bank Demerara zone final of the 2016 edition of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL).

Playing at GCC, the diminutive Dindyal, opening the batting for Diamond followed up his 82 in the first match with a masterful 96 as he helped his team to 184/8 in 30 overs. Dindyal struck 8 fours and 1 six while playing some lovely shots to all parts of the ground as he batted with maturity beyond his age until he was run out attempting a second run off the last ball of the innings.  Mark Fredericks was the only other batsman to post a substantial score when he got to 29. Bowling for Soesdyke, Leron Crawford had figures of 3 for 49 while Neeraj Khan took 2 for 16.
In reply, Soesdyke were dismissed in the 22nd over for 115. Ridge Rajaram top scored with 38 and Leron Crawford made 22. Bowling for Diamond, Anil Singh had 5-14, Phillip McTork took 2-19 and Dindyal returned with his off spin to take 2-20.
At Everest, Tucville Secondary amassed 182/6 in 20 overs. Godfrey Phillips struck 66 and Leon Chesney made 36. Aaron Glasgow had 2/17 bowling for David Rose Secondary.
David Rose then folded for 49 all out in 12.3 overs with Marlon Bowling doing the damage as he took 3-11.
At GNIC, Lodge Secondary thumped South Ruimveldt Secondary after amassing 207/3 in just 20 overs. Shemar Smith top scored 74 including two fours and eight sixes while Omali Barker made 71 not out hitting 3 fours and 6 maximums.
The hapless South Ruimvledt batsmen barely managed 51 runs as they only lasted 10 overs. Bowling for Lodge, Troyston Louzsi took 3-15 and Shemar Smith had 3-6 to complete an excellent all round performance.
Over at Zeeburg, Saraswat made 192 all out in 27.5 overs with Mohan Seepersaud making 67 while Kevin Latchoo and Rajesh Rampersaud made 29 and 27 respectively.
Windsor Forest Secondary could only make 60 all out in their reply. Dinesh George and Joshua Reddy took 3-8 and 3-16 respectively.
Meanwhile, at Enterprise, Enterprise Secondary racked up 169/3 in 20 overs with Hemnauth Dindyal hitting 67 and Edmond Person scoring 47 not out.
Annandale were then routed for a paltry 25 in 11.1 overs as Yogendra Samarooand and Bryan Sooku had identical figures of 2/2 while Rajendra Niranjan took 2/12.
The NSSCL continues today with Lodge Secondary taking on East Ruimveldt Secondary at GCC in a South Georgetown zone fixture while Annandale Secondary plays Bladen Hall at Enterprise. Diamond Secondary will face Friendship Secondary in the East Bank Demerara zone final on Friday 28 October at Everest from 10:00h.
