Michael Anthony wins Seven Seas Road Race

Team Evolution rider Michael Anthony showed strength to outsprint the pack to win the seventh annual Dr. Chase and Seven Seas Road Race on the West Demerara road way on Sunday.
Anthony crossed the line in one hour 20 minutes and 48 seconds ahead of Geron Williams, Hamza Eastman, Raul Leal, Shaquille Agard Michael Anthonyand Stephano Husbands in the exact order.
Experiencing the present wet conditions, the race was generally a cat and mouse affair between Evolution and Coco riders with both teams weathering each other attacks.
After successfully responding to the last major attack which was launched by Coco’s Stephano Husbands, the peloton headed for the finish where Anthony moved first and held on for the win.
Anthony described his victory as great while crediting his teammates for putting him in an excellent position for the win.
The race started at 08:15 hrs outside the Wales Police Station and proceeded in and out of Scoonard then along the West Bank public road and all the way to Uitvlugt and back where it finished at the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
Jornel Yearwood won the Juniors category ahead of Nigel Duguid and Andrew Hicks while Paul Choo-Wee-Nam got the better of Jaikaran Sukhai and Raymond Newton.
The Mountain Bike category was won by Keon Thomas, Seon Budhan and Talim Shaw.
The event was sponsored by Massey Group under their Seven Seas and Dr. Chase brands and organized by Hassan Mohammed.
Representatives of Seven Seas and Dr. Chase including Karen Connell and Nirvana Thakur were present where they addressed the gathering, offered product sampling and assisted with the distribution of cash and trophies.
