Nigel Hughes resigns as AFC Chariman

released a cutting statement, calling for the powers of State Minister Joseph Harmon to be reduced.
During an interview with Guyana Times on Monday evening, Hughes confirmed that he had indeed submitted his resignation to the party’s leadership.
He said he will be releasing a statement today, explaining the reasons for his resignation.
Hughes has been with the AFC since July 2011 and was elected as chairman on August 4, 2012.
Hughes’ wife, Cathy Hughes, currently serves as Public Telecommunications Minister within the A Partnership for National Unity/AFC coalition government.
Meanwhile, contacted for a comment on the matter, AFC General Secretary David Patterson repeatedly told this newspaper to carry whatever it wants.
