Winners in Mr and Miss African Roots receive prizes

The winners of the Mr and Miss African Root Pageant on last Saturday evening received their prizes at a simple ceremony at the Museum of Africa Heritage.

The pageant was held on September 11 and 12 at Queens College, which saw several energetic males and females vying for the titles.
At the end of the two-night affair, Stephan Johnson and Keisha Brazh were crowned Mr and Miss African Roots, in the adult category while Richard Layne and Tonia Harris were the crowned King and Queen in the junior category.
However, apart from the crowned queens and Kings, the organising committee headed by its Director, Kelton Jennings awarded several others who participated in the pageant. These include the dancers and sponsors who made the pageant a success.
The main sponsor was Kares Engineering. The company donated $1.4 million towards the planning and execution of the pageant. Other sponsors include Digicel, Museum of African Heritage, ACDA, Cool Wrap and others.
