Wins for GDF, Monedderlust

GFF/Stag Elite League…

The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Monedderlust were the latest side to register wins in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Stag Elite League Finale at the Number Five ground in Berbice on Saturday.

In the first match of the night, GDF defeated Buxton United 2-0 in a feisty encounter.
The first half ended without any team putting the ball in the net but in the second half, Kenard Simon scored in the 68th minute to put the Soliders in the lead.
It was the dynamic Delroy Fraser who scored in the 92nd that ended put the final nail in the coffin for Buxton United.
The East Coast Side are now placed in seventh, having losing five of their eight matches to date and winning one while GDF on the other hand, currently tie with Alpha United on fourteen points for fourth place, with four wins from eight matches.
In the other match, the home side Monedderlust, prolonged the misery of the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) in the League finale when they inflicted the seventh loss in eight matches for the Bourda based unit.
Travis Henry was the man to score in the 34th minute in the 1-0 victory over GFC which put the Berbice team in sixth place.
The league will continue on Friday at the Buxton United Recreation Ground where GDF will clash with Slingerz from 18:30 hrs, followed by the home side battling with Fruta Conquerors from 21:00 hrs.
