Woman stabs abusive husband to death

A 30-year-old Dredge Creek, Upper Pomeroon River, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) woman is on the run after she allegedly stabbed her reputed husband to death with a pair of scissors during an argument.
Dead is Alfro Adams, called “Fro”, a labourer of Himacobra, Moruca, North West District, Region One (Barima-Waini).
The incident occurred on at about midday on Monday at Dredge Creek, Upper Pomeroon River.
According to information reaching <<<Guyana Times>>> the suspect, Wavney John, was living in an abusive relationship with the deceased for the past six years. Relatives related that the now dead man was in the habit of consuming alcohol and would often times accuse his wife of having an affair with her cousin.
This newspaper was told that the couple has an 18-month-old child and they were residing at Himacobra, Moruca, Region One. However, she was forced to move out because of the constant abuse at the hands of her reputed husband. As such, she moved to Dredge Creek where she resided with her aunt. She was subsequently employed as a handy craft worker.
On Monday, Adams showed up at John’s aunt’s house at about 07:00h but the suspect and her aunt were at Charity Market selling their craft works. He was seen at a nearby shop imbibing and at about 11:00h, he reportedly followed John and her aunt into the boat in which they were travelling to return home.
As the women managed their daily chores, Adams, who was by then intoxicated, started to slap John accusing her of having an affair.
To defend herself, the woman reportedly grabbed a pair of scissors and reportedly stabbed him to his chest. Adams fell to the ground and was rushed to the Charity Oscar Joseph Hospital where he succumbed. Police ranks including Commander Stephen Mansell subsequently visited the home where the incident occurred. The pair of scissors was not recovered. Police are continuing their investigations.
