Malta Supreme Darts Tournament…

The Malta Supreme Darts Tournament, wherein several local darts players went up against their Trinidadian counterparts in a bid for supremacy, concluded last Sunday.

Staged at the Millennium Manor Hotel on Hadfield Street, Georgetown, this tournament was the brainchild of Guyana Darts Association (GDA) President Sheik Yassen, and he was duly impressed by the players.

According to Yassen, the players were given stern examination by the 15-member team from the twin-island republic, and it will serve as the learning curve for some members in their bid to play at a tournament in Brazil later this year.

Yassen feels this country could possibly host the 2020 Caribbean Championships once the necessary Government and private sector support can be obtained. Director of Sport, Christopher Jones, has pledged to support the association in its bid to host the tournament and to attend the 2018 Championships to be held in Trinidad and Tobago.

Yassen has expressed immense appreciation for the overwhelming support received from R. Ganesh Mining Enterprise and Roosters Bottled Coconut Water, along with those of the Government and Director of Sport, Christopher Jones, among other sponsors.
