One of the two suspected bandits who allegedly robbed a 30-year-old self-employed woman in Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was arrested in Georgetown on Thursday. Based on reports received, it was revealed that the victim had exited a supermarket in Herstelling and was walking along a street when two males in a white motor car approached her. One of the suspects, who was reportedly armed with a knife, exited the vehicle, held her at knife point and robbed her of one yellow metal chain and one yellow metal ring.

During the incident, the victim sustained injuries to one of her fingers.
The matter was subsequently reported to the Police, and based on information received, officers intercepted the motor car in Georgetown. The driver, a 33-year-old male from South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was arrested while attempts to locate the second suspect are underway. The knife suspected to have been used in the robbery was confiscated as investigations continue.
