1 dead, 2 critical in holiday weekend accidents

A 34-year-old welder of Mc Rae Street, Rosignol Village, West Coast Berbice (WCB) died on Christmas Day when he lost control of his car and it crashed into a clump of bushes.
Dead is Sunil Seeram, who was driving motorcar PXX 4540 when he became involved in the accident that occurred at about 13:00h on Friday on the Number 10 Public Road, West Coast Berbice (WCB).
Reports are that Seeram was proceeding in a westerly direction along the southern side of the West Coast Berbice thoroughfare at a fast rate of speed, and while negotiating a right turn, he suddenly lost control of the car and it ended up on the northern side of the road, where it came to a halt in a large clump of bushes.
Having sustained injuries about his body, Seeram was extracted from the vehicle in an unconscious state and taken to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, from where
he was later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was admitted as a patient in a critical condition. He, however, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
And a 44-year-old male of First Avenue, Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) is in a critical condition after he lost control of his motorcycle while riding on the Karrau trail in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni). The incident occurred on Friday at about 16:30h.

The car that was involved in the accident

Reports are that the motorcyclist was proceeding north along the Karrau trail at a fast rate of speed when he lost control of the motorcycle and fell onto the trail surface, sustaining injuries to his face.
He was picked up by a passerby in an unconscious state and taken to the Bartica Regional Hospital, but was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital as a result of the serious nature of his injuries.
Also, on December 25 at about 14:07h, an unregistered all-terrain vehicle (ATV) being driven by Clarence Williams, 53, a boat captain of Citrus Grove, Port Kaituma NWD, Region One (Barima-Waini) toppled.
Reports are that Williams was proceeding north along the western side of Floor Access Road at Port Kaituma, NWD at a fast rate of speed, and whilst negotiating a right turn, he lost control of the ATV and it toppled in a north-westerly direction.
Williams was picked up in an unconscious state by public spirited citizens and placed into a passing motor vehicle, which took him to the Port Kaituma District Hospital. As a result of the injuries he sustained, he was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for treatment.
Investigations have been launched into all these accidents.. (G9)
