One man is now hospitalised following a four-vehicle smash-up along the Foulis Public Road, West Coast Berbice (WCB) on Thursday.

Rawle Bacchus, 43, of Catherine Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was admitted a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Based on reports received, the accident involved motor car PYY 7837, driven by Akeem Daniels of Number 28 Village, WCB with occupants Marica Brown, 40, of Enterprise, ECD, and Trimel Sears, 22, also of Number 28 Village.

The other vehicles involved were PWW 5627, driven by Jaichand Jaikaran, 41, of Fifth Street, Success, ECD; motor car PAB 1558, driven by Abocy Lynch, 36, of Bel Air, WCB, and motor car PPP 4151, driven by Bacchus. Based on reports received, a motor lorry was also involved in the accident.
Police stated that on the day in question about 11:00h, motor car PWW 5627 was proceeding east along the said road while motor cars PPP 4151 and PYY 7837 were proceeding in the said direction behind each other.

However, based on reports received, Daniels claimed that at the time of the accident there was thick smoke in the area which obscured his vision, thus causing him to lose control of his car and run into the right-side rear of motor car PPP 4151.
As a result, motor car PPP 4151 was then propelled forward into motor car PAB 1558 before coming to a stop.
Bacchus reportedly received injuries about his body and was taken to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital, where he was treated and subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The other occupants were taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital, where they were treated and sent away. Police stated that breathalyser tests were administered on all the drivers, but there were no traces of alcohol in their systems.
