10 shortlisted to compete for Miss India Guyana title

Ten young ladies will be officially sashed on Saturday evening as finalists vying for the title of Miss Guyana India title. The event will be held at the Indian Monument Garden commencing at 19:00h.
The ceremony will be enriched with numerous mesmerising cultural performances by the Nitryageet Dance Group, Naya Andaaz Dance Group, dancer Adesh Rambarose, and singer Mahendra Ramkisson.
The delegates were shortlisted from a total of 30 applicants. They will now undergo rigorous training leading up to the grand finale on May 19 in the Grand Ballroom of the Guyana Marriott Hotel.
The grand finale will be graced by the reigning Miss India Worldwide, international model Karina Kohli among other dignitaries.
This year, the journey to the crown will see a segment of preliminary judging in Indian wear, evening gown, interview, personality, and talent. The grand finale is expected to be recorded for broadcast on local television stations.

This will not only enable the finalists to further their personal development, but will also create good role models and young leaders in our society for generations to come.
The Miss India Guyana Pageant leads directly to the Miss India Worldwide Pageant, managed by the India Festival Committee (IFC) in New York and hosted by numerous franchise-holding countries across the globe.
Over the past few years, the international pageants have been held in Malaysia, South Africa, and Dubai with the most recent being in the United States of America.
Under Miss India Guyana Organisation management, after a three-year hiatus, Guyana was once again placed on the map as it secured a place in the top ten at the last Miss India Worldwide Pageant held in New Jersey, US.
The talent piece which secured that position was composed and created by Miss India Guyana Organisation team members Derek Moore, Uma Bux and James Lomonga.
The Miss India Guyana Pageant is one of the most prestigious and family-oriented modern cultural pageants in Guyana. The pageant has, over the years, sought to develop young women of Indian origin through the many platforms and opportunities the brand has to offer.
